Domain names and ninjas

Recently, my domain registrar (for those who don’t know, that’s where I have my domain of 5-cent.us) told me 5-cent.ninja was expiring!

Ok, reality check: they decided, a few years ago, that everyone wanted a .ninja top level domain (that’s what most of you think of when you see .com). I told them that was an idiot idea, and no, I didn’t want it.

Note – if you ever see anything purporting to be from me, and, say, you mouse over the link, and look at the bottom of the browser, and see that it’s from there, it’s a scam. I will never use it.

Now, why am I so underwhelmed by NINJAS!!!?

Real history: ninjas were effectively outside the caste system in pre-opening to the West Japan. They were spies and assassins for hire, and if you’re thinking of Mafia employee/gig workers, you’re right.

Now, one of the most famous ninja of all was Ukifune Jinnai. His most famous deed? Killing a warlord by, literally, hiding in the man’s latrine and breathing through a straw. When the man came to use the latrine, Jinnai shoved a spear up his ass. Then he hid under the noisome water of the latrine until the hue and cry moved away, and he could escape.

Not exactly like certain turtles, eh?

So, no, that’s not who I am, nor would I use a .ninja domain.

    1. Nope. I don’t twit, tiktok, or much in the way of social media. I’m on FB because I felt I needed to be, but I’m either doing things in the RW, or writing, and not interested really in social (more accurately, anti-social media).
